Geely to maintain international standards for Volvo, chairman says
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 27) - Li Shufu, chairman of domestic automobile giant Geely, has affirmed that Chinese manufactured Volvos will meet international standards, the Beijing Times reported today.
Mr. Li (pictured) made the comment at the second annual Global Think Tank Summit, held by the China Center for International Economies.He also confirmed that the Geely and Volvo brands will retain their seperate independence. "Geely will remain our mainstream brand, while Volvo is [target towards] the luxury market."
Mr. Li added that his company will push for localization research for Volvo in order to improve the brand's global value.
374,000 Volvos were sold last year, 11 percent higher than the number sold in 2009.
