Overall sales of BYD's new energy cars have yet to reach 500

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 29) - BYD is still failing to deliver with its much boasted new energy vehicle technology, with sales having yet to pass the 500 mark, caing.com reported today. The manufacturer has only managed to net 4.28 million yuan ($6.61m) total from its new energy vehicles. The disappointing news comes from BYD's A-share guidebook.

According to the book, released earlier this month, BYD has sold 365 of its hybrid F3DM (pictured), and only 56 of the pure electric E6. The F3DM entered the market in February 2009, while the E6 has been available since last March.

BYD's total returns last year were just 22.6 billion yuan ($3.49b), consituting only a fraction of the domestic industry's overall returns.
