Dongfeng Nissan to begin producing Infiniti vehicles in China

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 13) - As part of its expansion strategy, Dongfeng Nissan will be looking to begin Chinese manufacture of Infiniti vehicles, auto.sohu.com reported today.

Currently only imported Infiniti vehicles are offered in China, something which Dongfeng Nissan looks to change. Reportedly the first model to be domestically produced will be from the FX series of crossover SUVs. In order to prepare the way for Chinese production, the joint venture will be looking to expand its dealers in the country to around 50 by the end of the year.

According to Carlos Ghosn's Nissan Power 88 mid-term business plan, Dongfeng Nissan will aim to expand its market share in China to 10 percent. Aside from its expansion of the Infiniti brand in the country, the JV is building its third production site in the country. The news has comes following reports that the JV's second factory in Huadu, Guangzhou, will begin trial production in November.
