BYD vice president resigns

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 8) - Xia Zhibing has already handed in his letter of resignation as vice president of BYD, the Beijing Timesreported today. Mr. Xia will be leaving the manufacturer, with his position going to President of Production and Sales Hou Yan.

According to an official statement from BYD, Mr. Xia (pictured) will be resigning due to personal reasons. BYD stressed that his departure would not affect its production and sales. Mr. Xia was originally hinted to be heading for Jaguar Land Rover, rumors that were later denied by sources within the manufacturer. He may go abroad to conduct research. Mr. Xia himself was unavailable for comment.

BYD has seen its sales performance fall again this year, with sources within the company praising Mr. Xia for his leadership ability in such a difficult time.

Mr. Xia began working in BYD soon after graduating from Peking University's Guanghua School of Management. He previously worked in the company's cost and sales departments.
