Passenger car sales in China exceed 900000 in July

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 9) - The amount of private vehicles sold this month increased 7.9 percent from last July, China Securities News quoted statistics collected by the China Passenger Car Association. However, the amount still represented a decrease of about 5 percent from June. Over 922,000 vehicles were sold this July, with 839,400 being passenger vehicles.

753,200 sedans were sold in total, with 692,400 of those going to private owners. Meanwhile, 127,300 SUVs were sold, 111,500 of which were destined for personal use. Both segments experienced slight growth when compared with the previous month.

Despite positive trends in June, the market was unable to keep up with that pace last month. According to the CPCA, the market was slave to declining customer demand, which was the key reason behind the drop in sales. The CPCA expects sales to slightly increase this month, but to still be lower than they were in August.

Nearly 6.83 million vehicles have been sold in the country since the start of the year, an increase of 9.9 percent from January to June of 2010.
