Ford announces new plans to develop further in China
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 14) - Chongqing is set to become Ford's largest production site outside of Detroit, the Nanfang Metropolis Daily reported yesterday. When announcing Changan Ford's 2011 sales performance last week, President Marin Burela announced the news, adding that the JV would enter the top four-selling companies soon.
In line with its plan for the Twelfth Five-Year Guideline, a national economic directive from 2011 to 2015, Changan Ford announced its plans for 2015. The joint venture, which currently only sells the Focus, Carnival and Mondeo models, will be bringing over around four new products a year, until its Chinese lineup reaches 15 models in 2015. Mr. Burela (pictured above) did not offer comment on which specific models Ford had in mind. The only models confirmed are the new generation Focus and the Kuga crossover SUV (pictured below).
Changan Ford also looks set to increase the size of its dealer network substantially.
