Dongfeng Honda hopes to sell 100000 new Civics annually

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 21) - Dongfeng Honda's ninth generation Civic made its debut at the Chengdu Motor Show earlier this week. The car's appearance was coupled with an announcement from Vice President Liu Hong that production of the current eight generation Civic would halt, xkb.com.cn reported today. Mr. Liu added that the new Civic will become the flagship vehicle for the joint venture.

The new Civic (pictured) will be available in two versions, a regular version and a sportier Type-S variant. The car looks to be slightly larger than its predecessor, measuring 4.53 m long, 1.76 m wide and 1.45 m tall, with a wheelbase of 2.67 m. It will still only be available in a sedan version.

The Civic will be targeted at the Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sylphy, Ford Focus and other subcompacts. According to Mr. Liu, Dongfeng Honda hopes to sell 100,000 Civics a year.
