Over 400 BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles recalled in China
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 18) - BMW AG has notified the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine that it will begin a recall of certain imported BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles later this month, auto.qq.com reported today. BMW models targeted by the recall include the BMW 750Li, 760Li, ActiveHybrid 7, X5 and X6. In all, a total of 177 BMWs in China will be affected. 164 Mini Coopers and 73 Rolls-Royce Ghosts are also to be recalled. All of the above models were manufactured between May and August of last year. The recall will commence on April 24.
The electric water pumps in the engines of the models in question are suspected to have been installed improperly. The shells may have been fractured upon installation, which can potentially lead to coolant leaking into the pump's circuit board and causing it to short circuit. In serious circumstances this could pose a potential safety risk. BMW-authorized dealerships will contact all affected owners to conduct free inspection and maintenance of their vehicles.
