New Geely Gleagle GX7 SUV hits Chinese market

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 25) - The first SUV in Geely's Gleagle brand, the GX7, made its official market debut earlier this week at the ongoing Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, auto.sohu.com reported today. The GX7 is priced between 92,900 yuan and 129,900 yuan ($14,776-20,661).

The GX7 (pictured), which is manufactured at Geely's Chengdu production site, possesses ideal styling for an urban SUV, with flowing contours and an oversized grille. The front and rear headlights mirror each other, helping add to the SUV's overall sporty feel. The large five spoke wheels are fitted with 225/65 R17 tires. The GX7 measures 4.7 m long, 1.85 m wide and 1.72 m tall, with a 2.66 m long wheelbase and a ground clearance of 172 mm.

The GX-5's interior sports a two-tone black and beige design. The SUV's interior design is very straight-forward, with a black three spoke steering wheel, large instrument display and flannel seats. Seat warmers, steering wheel mounted controls and a touch-screen DVD navigation system are all available as options.

The front-wheel drive GX7 will be available with three different engine sizes: 1.8 L, 2.0 L and 2.4 L. Currently, only the 1.8 L option is available, with the others set to be released in the coming months. The engine boasts maximum output of 138 hp and can produce up to 172 Nm of torque. It is mated to a JL-S170B five-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic option will be also available in the future.
