Geely in the process of moving factories, risks losing significant manpower
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 3) - Geely Automobile has begun moving its operations for its Englon brand from Shanghai to Hunan's eastern city of Xiangtan, the Internet News Agency reported today. What the fate of its Shanghai factory staff will be poses a challenge for the manufacturer, as it may lose most of its experienced workers.
In order to make sure the move is made as smoothly as possible, Geely asked each of its Shanghai factory workers whether or not they're willing to move to Xiangtan or one of Geely's other bases in China. According to various sources, the majority of Shanghai Englon factory workers have been with Geely for a considerable amount of time. That said, most have decided to leave the manufacturer. However, they may still have a future with Geely, which is planning to open a new production site in Shanghai two years from now.
Geely is currently in the process of moving several of its production sites. Among the moves, its Zhejiang sites in Luqiao and Ningbo will be moved to Jiaojiang and Chunxiao, respectively. The manufacturer faces similar problems in those cities of what to do with its staff. The loss of several experienced workers may cause the manufacturer's production ability to temporarily drop, as it devotes resources to training their replacements.
