BMW to recall over 2900 vehicles in China
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 5) - BMW will begin a recall of imported and domestically made vehicles in China next month, Xinhua reported today. The recall, which will begin on August 15, will target 2010 to 2012 model year 3 Series, X1 SUVs and Z4 roadsters. A total of 2,907 vehicles are slated to be recalled.
The recall will be split into two phases. The first phase will target 2,712 vehicles manufactured in China between November 2010 and February 2012, while the second recall will exclusively target imported Z4s manufactured in late 2011. The vehicles to be recalled are suspected to have a flaw with their steering control system, which may prevent the power steering system from initializing correctly. The warning light on the dashboard will turn on, alerting the driver of the error.
BMW, via its certified dealerships, will conduct free inspection and replacement of the steering system, in order to eliminate potential threats to safety. Dealerships will begin contacting owners of affected vehicles early next month to schedule appointment times.
