Mazda sells over 100000 vehicles in China from January to June
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 5) - Mazda China's recently released statistics reveal that the manufacturer's sales in China from January to June totaled 103,991 vehicles, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today. The amount is one percent higher than what Mazda sold in the first six months of 2011. Mazda's Chinese retail sales in June reached 16,138 units, representing negative year-on-year growth of two percent for the manufacturer.
Despite that FAW Mazda constituted the majority of those sales, 59,424 vehicles, its performance fell ten percent from last year, Changan Mazda, meanwhile, saw its sales over the six month period grow 22 percent, finishing at 44,567 units. The amount represents a new record for the joint venture.
"[Although] Mazda's sales in the first half of 2012 have been affected by poor market conditions, [they] still managed to slightly increase from last year," Mazda China Chairman and CEO Yamada Noriaki stated. He added that Mazda will release several new models in the latter half of the year, including the brand new imported CX–5 SUV (pictured) and yearly updates to the Mazda2, Mazda6 and Mazda8.
Mazda also has plans to increase its dealership network to increase sales in the country. According to official plans, the number of FAW Mazda and Changan Mazda dealerships will increase from the current 382 outlets to over 420 by the end of the year.
