Geely to release five new models in the latter half of 2012
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 30) - Geely has confirmed that it will be releasing five new models before the end of the year, Beijing News reported today. Geely officials believe that the new models will help the manufacturer meet its sales target for the year.
According to Geely Vice President and Sales General Manager Liu Jinliang, the new models will include the Englon SC3, Englon SC6, and Englon SC7, as well as new versions of the Emgrand EC8 (pictured above) and Gleagle GX7. The new EC8 will be powered by a new independently developed engine and driven by either a six-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual, while the SC7 and new GX7 are both equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions.
According to official statistics, Geely sold a total of 34,495 vehicles in June, equivalent to year-on-year growth of 16.2 percent. Global sales of the Emgrand EC7 (pictured below) alone reached 13,946 units, a full 69 percent more than last June. Over 10,000 EC7s were sold in China alone, growing 52.1 percent from the previous month.
Geely has sold over 220,000 vehicles in the first half of the year, making it one of the few own brand manufacturers to maintain positive sales growth. The manufacturer has fundamentally managed to fulfill half of its sales goal for the year. Meanwhile, Geely's exports over the six month period exceeded 40,000 units, over double the amount exported in the first half of 2011.
