Audi holds high hopes for Q3's performance in China
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 7) - Ever since it came to China, the Audi Q3 has been sending shockwaves through the local compact crossover SUV market. The Q3, which is currently only available as an import, will be manufactured at FAW-VW's factory in Changchun, Jilin in the future.
Audi has a lot of confidence in the Q3 (pictured). In a recent interview cited by a Beijing Business Today report, Sandra Göres, head of product marketing for the manufacturer, commented that the SUV market offers a lot of new opportunities for growth.
In a change of pace, Audi brought over the Q3 to China relatively late. By comparison, the A6L, A4L and Q5 were all pioneers in their respective segments. Commenting on the issue, Mrs. Göres said that Audi was not one to rush into new segments without preparing well in advance. On the issue of the Q3, she said that the release date was appropriate.
When asked about potential competitors, such as the BMW X1 and the future Mercedes-Benz GLA, Mrs. Göres said that Audi was paying specific attention to the state of the market. However, she concluded by saying that there is currently no other model that offers exactly what the Q3 brings to the market.
