Ford sells over 48000 vehicles in China in August
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 8) - A total of 48,631 Ford were sold in China in August, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today. The figure represents year-on-year growth of 39 percent for the manufacturer. Ford has sold a total of 368,513 vehicles in China from January to August, eight percent more than what it sold in the first eight months of last year.
Ford passenger automobile sales in China totaled 33,640 units in August, equivalent to year-on-year growth of 65 percent. The new Ford Focus (pictured above) contributed greatly to the manufacturer's performance last month. According to statistics from consulting firm IHS Automotive, the Focus was the world's best selling automobile in the first half of 2012. A total of 489,616 Focuses were sold globally from January to June. Meanwhile, 4,594 Mondeos (pictured below) were sold in the country last month. The imported Edge SUV was also very popular, with sales over the first eight months of the year increasing 94 percent.
Ford sales from the Changan Mazda Ford and Jiangling Motor joint ventures totaled 33,017 units and 14,991 units last month, respectively.
