Dongfeng Yueda Kia begins selling new K3 in China
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 16) - Dongfeng Yueda Kia's K3 compact made its Chinese market debut today, auto.sina.com.cn reported. The joint venture held a press event in Shandong province's capital of Jinan marking the launch. The K3 is priced between 120,000 yuan and 160,000 yuan ($19,080-$25,440).
The K3 is the newest models in Kia's 'K' line. The model is priced right between the K2 and K5, helping Dongfeng Yueda Kia target a whole new market demographic in the country. The K3's attractive entry-level price may put pressure on other manufacturers, and help it compete with the Honda Civic, VW Sagitar and other related models.
The Kia K3 comes with two power options, the 1.6 L D-CVVT Gamma engine and 1.8L D-CVVT Nu engine. The two engines boast respective maximum outputs of 128 hp and 146 hp, and are mated to a six-speed continuously variable manumatic transmission. The engines offer increased power as well as substantial fuel savings.
The Kia K3 measures 4.6 m long, 1.78 m wide and 1.45 m tall. Its 2.7 m wheelbase ensures ample interior space. Higher trim variants come with genuine leather seats, separate climate controls, one button start up, premium speakers and other luxurious options. On the safety side, the K3 received five stars on the C-NCAP crash test, and comes equipped with front and side airbags, as well as Vehicle Stability Management and Tire Pressure Management systems.
