Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 22) - Alongside other Japanese manufacturers, Dongfeng Nissan has seen its sales fall dramatically in China over the last few months as tensions between China and Japan have risen over territorial disputes. The joint venture responded that they may be revising their one million sales target for the year, Beijing News reported today.

"Looking at our annual sales, we will have to adhere to market conditions and other factors, [after which] we will further analyze this year's one million unit production and sales targets," a representative from Dongfeng Nissan said.

Dongfeng Nissan's sales (including those of own brand Venucia vehicles) in September, which is traditionally a good season for the Chinese market, totaled 46,000 units, 29.23 percent less than the 65,088 sales the joint venture made the previous month.

Dongfeng Nissan and other joint ventures have been trying to preserve Chinese sales in the face of increasingly strong anti-Japanese sentiment. The JV recently announced that it will be compensating Nissan vehicle owners who saw their vehicles damaged during recent riots.
