Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 22) - According to its recently released monthly performance review, Geely Automobile sold a total of 63,000 vehicles in January, Caijing reported today. The figure represents year-on-year growth of 67 percent for the own brand manufacturer, and is seven percent greater than the amount it sold in December 2012.

Sales of Geely's three subsidiary brands, Emgrand, Englon and Gleagle, totaled 20,000 vehicles, 21,000 vehicles and 22,000 vehicles, respectively.

Geely's year-on-year growth rate last month is much higher than the Chinese industry average of 46.4 percent reported by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. The high sales growth rates for Geely and automobile industry as a whole are attributed to the fact that the Chinese New Year arrived early this year.

Geely is one of China's most successful own brand manufacturers. The Zhejiang-based manufacturer sold a total of 480,000 vehicles in 2012, representing year-on-year growth of 15 percent. Geely has announced a sales target of 560,000 vehicles for this year.
