Dongfeng Honda aims to sell 340000 vehicles in 2013

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 25) - Dongfeng Honda has announced a sales goal of 340,000 vehicles this year. The figure, which appeared in a report appearing in the Economic Observer News today, is identical to 2012's sales goal.

According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Dongfeng Honda sold a total of 282,000 vehicles in 2012. Although the sales figure represents year-on-year growth of 10.5 percent, it was still 17.1 percent short of the joint venture's 2012 sales target of 340,000 vehicles. According to Dongfeng Honda Executive Vice President Chen Binbo, the next three years will be crucial for the JV. "Enterprises and people are the same, with their tenth to thirteenth years being most important for their development," Mr. Chen explained.

Dongfeng Honda has plans to release the brand new Concept S (pictured) this year, which is exclusively targeted towards Chinese drivers. Mr. Chen has made his confidence in the Concept S well known, stating his desire to see the model help make Dongfeng Honda's brand image "more fashionable, more hip and sportier." The manufacturer also has plans to expand its current five model lineup to include eight models by 2015.

Furthermore, second phase construction at the joint venture's second automobile factory is scheduled to be completed this year, boosting the site's annual production capacity to 500,000 vehicles.
