Hyundai sells over 130000 vehicles in China in April

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 10) - The Hyundai Motor Company recently released its sales performance review for April, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today. The manufacturer sold a total of 660,355 Hyundai and Kia brand vehicles globally last month, 131,320 of which were produced and sold in China. The manufacturer's sales grew 25 percent in the country compared to last year. The majority of those sales, 85,100 units, were made by Beijing Hyundai, while the remainder was from Dongfeng Yueda Kia.

As in the past, Beijing Hyundai's strongest sales performances were in the compact and SUV segments. The Langdong Elantra (pictured above) remaining one of its segment's most popular vehicles, with a total of 17,750 units sold over the course of the month. Meanwhile sales of the Verna and Yuedong Elantra compacts totaled 15,491 units and 15,454 units, respectively. The ix35 urban SUV's (pictured below) monthly sales totaled 12,001 units. The joint venture's performance in the midsize segment was also commendable, with the eighth generation Sonata managing to bring in 10,286 new orders.

Meanwhile, Dongfeng Yueda Kia's K series performed well in the country as well. The K2 and K3 managed to accumulate 11,809 sales and 11,690 sales in April, respectively. The K5 also garnered a lot of attention, with its sales reaching 5,028 units last month.

Despite slowing growth, many analysts believe that there is a lot of potential for the Chinese automobile market to grow this year. The Hyundai Group aims to capitalize on that growth, with plans to expand its annual production capacity to 1.8 million vehicles by next year. Its Kia branch is currently building its third automobile factory in Yancheng, Jiangsu.
