FAW-VW's sales grow over 17% in May
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 13) - FAW Volkswagen sold a total of 132,664 vehicles in May, auto.qq.com reported earlier this week, citing the joint venture's recently released performance review. The sales figure represents year-on-year growth of 17.1 percent for the JV.
VW models accounted for 90,824 of FAW-VW's sales last month, while the remaining 41,840 sales were of domestically manufactured and imported Audis. Year-on-year sales growth rates for the JV's VW and Audi brands reached 17.6 percent and 16.1 percent in May.
The New Sagitar (pictured above) remained FAW-VW's best selling model for the month. 24,298 Sagitars were sold over the course of the month, over the double the amount sold last May. The other VW models also performed strongly, with reported monthly sales of the New Bora, New Jetta, New Magotan, Golf and CC totaling 20,952 units, 17,191 units, 14,232 units, 10,129 units and 4,022 units, respectively.
Sales of the Audi brand also continued to grow, with 33,914 domestically manufactured Audis sold in May. Monthly sales for the A6L, A4L and Q3 totaled 12,521 units, 10,517 units, 2,805 units. The new Q5 (pictured below), which made its market debut at April's Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, also performed strongly, with a reported 8,071 units sold in May.
