Chery Jaguar Land Rover aims to compete in the forefront of the Chinese premium automobile market; confirms that Chery engines will be used in future

The joint venture's first model, the Range Rover Evoque, will be displayed at this year's Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, before its market launch next year.

According to Chery Jaguar Land Rover President Chris Bryant, the opening of the factory marks a new phase for the joint venture's operations in China. Mr. Bryant emphasized that Chery Jaguar Land Rover is dedicated to leading the Chinese premium automobile market.

In its quest to compete with the big three of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover has established a long-term partnership with Chery. The partnership will lead to the development of new locally produced Jaguars and Land Rovers, as well as well as the creation of a new independent JV brand made specifically for the Chinese market. According to Board Chairman Chen Anning, domestic production of three new models will begin next year. Furthermore, a detailed five-year product plan has already been drawn up, with a new model being released every six months. Mr. Chen is confident that Chery Jaguar Land Rover has the potential to compete with China's leading luxury automobile manufacturer Audi.

Mr. Chen also revealed that new domestically produced Chery Jaguar Land Rover vehicles will be powered by Chery engines. "According to the company's internal plan, Chery-developed powertrains will be used, but not on the Evoque (pictured)," Mr. Chen stated.
