FAW-VW officially comments on Sagitar recall

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 28) - FAW Volkswagen has officially commented on the recall of the Sagitar, the Beijing Evening News reported today. FAW-VW commented on the issue at a recent press conference held in association with VW China's import car division. According to the manufacturer, the action is part of a company-wide recall of Sagitars from all across the world.

On October 17, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) announced that FAW-VW and VW China would be complying with its request to begin recalling Sagitars (pictured) sold in China. The recall, which will begin next February, was issued due to problems with the coupling rods in the vehicles' suspensions. The recall will target 563,605 FAW-VW Sagitars, as well as 17,845 imported by VW China. It is the result of a two month long investigation done by AQSIQ's Defective Product Management Center.

The issue has proved very controversial for VW. FAW-VW had previously offered a poor repair scheme which had caused public outcry as they did not solve the problem. VW's avoidance of admitting that the problem was due to a technological flaw, angering consumers even further.
