Audi aims for 10%-15% Chinese sales growth for 2015
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai February 9) - Audi has sold a total of 575,077 vehicles in 2013, growing 17.7 percent from the previous year. The brand accounts for 34 percent of all luxury automobiles sold in the country last year. As for this year’s plan, Audi has decided to play it safe, stating that it is aiming to maintain year-on-year sales growth of 10 percent to 15 percent.
Several Audi models performed very strongly last year. The brand has a leading position in the compact, mid-size and full-size markets. The Audi A3 and Q3 performed especially strongly. 2014 sales of the Audi A3 family exceeded 30,000 units. Likewise, 85,000 Audi Q3s were sold over the course of the year, up 103 percent from 2013 and accounting for 53 percent of all compact SUVs sold in China. Sales of the Audi A6L last year totaled 162,500 vehicles.
As the most popular brand in China, Audi is facing an increasingly competitive market. FAW-VW has set a sales target of 660,000 vehicles to 700,000 vehicles for its Audi brand, representing year-on-year growth of 10 percent to 15 percent.
“As the leader of the Chinese premium automobile market, FAW-VW Audi will spare no effort to think of new innovations,” FAW-VW Audi Sales and Marketing Executive Deputy Director Ge Shuwen stated. On that note-FAW-VW plans to add 409 new dealerships to its existing sales network, expanding it to cover 178 cities across the country.
