C4 Picasso launched in T-mall, Dongfeng Citroen targets family MPV market
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 31) - Dongfeng Citroen launched its family MPV C4 Picasso in T-mall, Chinese version of e-bay. Its selling price is 216,800 to 265,800 CNY, challenging VW Sharan MPV, and BMW 2.
After experiencing a hard period in the first half of the year, Dongfeng Citroen planned to improve the dull sales situation through launching four new models later this year, including C4 Picasso, C4L 1.2THP, C5 1.8THP and a new middle-sized car.
As entering the second half of the year, the company targeted the promising MPV market with launching the C4 Picasso in T-mall, with a sales target of 2,000 to 3,000 units at the end of the year for this single model.
The newly launched C4 Picasso will cover seven-seater and five-seater two kinds. In fact, the model has no similar rivals in the market for its preset challengers including VW Sharan MPV are inclined to commercial usage while C4 Picasso is made for family usage.
According to the analysis of an insider, family MPV holds a big hidden surging trend. Compared with sales growth rate of 45.94% in the first half of the year, MPV only increased 15.26% in sales in the same period. And family MPV reported even lower growth rate than commercial MPV.
The major market of MPV is located in small cities in China mainly for commercial usage. Most MPV are low-end and low-priced or of high quality and price. Chinese market is in need of family MPV of proper price and good quality.
