Motor vehicle sales grow at record pace in Brazil in May

Sales of motor vehicles registered a record rise of 17.7 percent in Brazil in May, the National Federation of Motor Vehicles Distribution (Fenabrave) said on Tuesday.

Fenabrave said that it was the highest rise posted in a month since the organization started monitoring the market.

Statistics from Brazil's licensing system show that 210,719 vehicles were purchased last month, a 28.4 percent rise on a year-on-year basis.

Fenabrave said that customers purchased 882,046 motor vehicles in the year to May, up 23.7 percent from a year ago.
