SAIC production operates across 6 regions in China
SAIC Iveco Commercial Vehicle Company and SAIC Fiat Hongyan Automobile power train Company were set up recently in Chongqing, southeast of China, and the two plants is expected to produce 40,000 heavy vehicles and 100,000 engines by the end of next year. By then, SAIC will have production bases across 6 regions which includes Yizheng in Jiangsu Province, Liuzhou in Guangxi Province, Yantai and Qingdao in Shandong Province, Shenyang, in Liaoning Province and Chongqing.
Shanghai GM Dongyue Company, located in Yantai, produces mainly Chevrolet products whereas Shanghai GM Beisheng Company, located in Shenyang, produces mainly MPV GL8. Last year, Shanghai GM's annual output broke the 400,000 mark.
After the M & A of Liuzhou WULING in 2002, SAIC Liuzhou WULING's annual output has exceeded 450,000 units last year.
SAIC president Hu Maoyuan said:" Within the "11th Five-Year Plan" period, SAIC will adhere to its principle of achieving greater development through cooperation with its partners. We aim to improve our production bases across the nation and to grab a bigger share in the passenger cars and commercial vehicle market.
