Land Rover: Impressive Q2 results
The world's leading brand in sports-utility vehicle, Land Rover, released its 2007 second quarter sales results in China today. Land Rover (China) posted a new sales record of 1539 units in this quarter, an impressive increase of 194% compared with a year earlier.
In the first half of 2007, Land Rover's total sales reached 2539 units, up 63% year on year. One of the main drivers behind this is the Chinese consumers' overwhelming response to the Land Rover's LR2. This compact, yet luxurious, SUV was a big hit since its launch in China, April this year, and has received 1196 orders since.
The rest of the Land Rover models are also keeping up with LR2's performance in the second quarter. Sales of LR3 reached 443 units, up 91% y/ whereas the classic Range Rover posted sales of 158 units, up 133% y/y. The Ranger Rover Sports, which offers high performance at an affordable price, sold 158 units, a 108% surge y/y.
