Japan's third largest auto manufacturer Nissan Motor Company is targeting sales of 300,000 vehicles in China this year, a growth of about 36% compared with last year, according to a report.

"All auto manufacturers are looking for opportunities to expand their market shares in China." said Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Director Yukihisa Kayashima recently. He also disclosed that the company will work with China Dongfeng Automobile Company to set up a new factory to enhance automobile production capacity in China.

In recent years, Toyota, Honda and other Japanese auto giants have introduced luxury cars into the Chinese market and Nissan is of no exception. Earlier this month, Nissan's luxury brand Infiniti began sale of G35 luxury sedan and luxury SUV FX series in the Chinese market.

The Director said that by the end of 2008, in addition to the models mentioned above, three new models will be introduced in China. An estimated 10 Infiniti franchising stores is expected to be opened by the end of next year.
