Heavy trucks sales surged 60% in first half of 2007
In the first half year sales of heavy duty trucks went up by 60% y-o-y, far surpassing the 20% increase of passenger vehicles, and it is forecasted that the heavy trucks will continue to experience strong growth in the second half year.
Following the stagnation of heavy truck sales over the past two years, the segment has hit a record by selling 127,924 in the first five months, up 63.66% y-o-y.
Though the sales in June will not be unveiled until the mid of July, it is almost indubitable that sales in the heavy truck segment will see incremental growth of more than 60%. Anhui Hualing Auto has already post a sales result of 6,050 in the first half year, up 122% y-o-y. In addition, Jianghuai Gerfa, Shaanxi Auto and Beiqi Foton Motor are certain to double their sales in the first six months.
Experts predict that basing on the great development potential in the field of logistic and increasing support for heavy truck productions from the government, the heavy truck segment is sure to see big growth in the second half year.
But the most important factor is the implementation of the Euro III Emission standard. As the implementation date for the EUROIII has been delayed for the present, the segment still has chance to see a boost but it will drop down significantly after the standard become mandatory. The heavy truck sales are forecasted to climb 50% for the full year.
