BMW plans to increase annual output in China and the U.S.
"To meet the growing market demand, BMW Company plans to increase production in China and the United States." German luxury car manufacturer BMW recently said.
One of BMW board members said BMW is now consulting with China Brilliance Auto Group to raise output in China.
BMW's current annual output is 30,000 units in China, it is expected that its output will be doubled in near future.
The Chinese automaker Brilliance Auto Group and BMW Group set up a JV in March 2003 producing and selling BMW 3 Series and 5 Series. Data showed that BMW in mainland China market sales reached 36,000 units in 2006, increased 51.3% compared to the previous year.
In view of the U.S. market, BMW's annual output in Spartanburg factory based in South Carolina of the United States is 140,000 units currently. The Company plans annual output to increase to 200,000 units by 2010.
