Skoda Fabia Hatchback to be made in China
Skoda, the sub brand of VW, is crucial to VW in China. Due to lack of new models, VW in China needs Skoda to bring new models to increase its market share. The newly launched Skoda Octavia had a flat sale of about 2,000 units, which is far from the expected sale of 5,000 units per month. And VW Sagitar, based on the platform of Jetta, also fell people's expectations, with an average monthly sale of 6,168 units.
So the Group is considering bringing a new model to save its market share. According to sources, the next model that VW will introduce is Skoda Fabia, and it is likely to be made in the VW Chinese auto plant next year, currently the model's road test is underway.
Skoda exhibited its new 2007 Fabia in March this year at the Geneva Auto Show. This five door hatchback sedan is in the same segment with POLO. There are four options for petrol engines and three options for diesel engines. The price is expected to be in the scope of 100,000 yuan.
