Guangzhou Honda to build a new engine plant

Guangzhou Honda has obtained license from Chinese government to set up a new engine plant, the company announced recently.

Currently, vehicles produced by Guangzhou Honda are powered by the engines made by a joint venture company of Dongfeng Motors and Honda Motors.

"Dongfeng Honda engine annual production capacity is 360,000 units, which could not meet the demand of Guangzhou Honda," Said Fu Shoujie, vice president of Guangzhou Honda.

Guangzhou Honda has four models currently for sales, Odyssey, Accord, City and Fit, while Dongfeng Honda has Civic and SUV CR-V for sales.

Guangzhou Honda is developing its own car brands based on existing platform, but the company will develop new car brands on their own and will export their own brands to overseas market finally, saidEiji Okawara, president of Guangzhou Honda.
