NDRC unveils new list of vehicle models

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) unveiled the latest list of auto manufacturers and their vehicle models that are licensed to be produced and sold on market. A total number of 33 car models from16 carmakers are listed, including ten all new models to be launched before October. 

Local brands dominate

It is worth noting that19 out of 33 vehicle models in the list are made by homegrown automakers. Jiangnan Automobile Co's two new cars with 1.3 and 1.5 liters engines are included in the list. BYD F6, which just went into production yesterday, is included. Another high-end vehicle is Jianghuai Binyue, claiming the automaker’s first sedan among its production range. Brilliance M3, which will be launched in October, is listed.

The list also include a Hongqi 1.8 L resigned sedan and a Lifan 520 hatback. Chery has four models in the list: Tiggo 2.0L, A5 1.8L, Qiyuan 1.2L and 1.6L.

Redesigned models from JVs

New vehicle models developed by Sino-foreign joint ventures, such as Shanghai-GM, Shanghai-VW, Chang'an Ford Mazda, Nanjing Fiat, are also listed, but most of these vehicle models in the list are redesigned models, such as redesigned Ford Mondeo, Kia Cerato, Toyota Reiz, Fiat perla, Grand Caravan, GM Polo and Touran.

Dongfeng yueda Kia, the owner of Cerato, RIO, Sportage, has more car models listed by NDRC than any other automakers.
