Shanghai. October 12 (Gasgoo.com) - Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co has announced yesterday it will provide in-vehicle telematic services in China by 2009.

The service will be based on its existing G-Book system which has already been equipped on vehicles in Japan. China is the first foreign country in which Toyota prepares to use this system.

The service will offer drivers information including traffic reports and news, as well as the ability to call for assistance in the event of a breakdown. The basic system will also incorporate satellite navigation, added an official from Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co.

By expanding e-CRB (customer relationship building) and introducing in-vehicle telematic system in China, Toyota hopes to forge a closer relationship with its customers.

Prior to Toyota’s announcement, Nissan has already announced plans to roll out the telematic services for the 2008 Olympic Games.
