Daniel Kirchert leaving Infiniti for China’s Internet Car Building Project
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Jan 27th)– Recently, Daniel Kirchert is resigning his position as head of Dongfeng Infiniti and will join an Internet car building project backed by Chinese company Tencent Holdings, Harmony Auto Holdings and Foxconn Technology Group.
Kirchert was trained by BMW’s legendary former President Christoph Stark and joined Infiniti in May, 2013. Infiniti’s sales soared 150% in China under his lead for the past 3 years, making this brand a promising dark horse in China’s Luxury car segment. In 2015, this carmaker sold 40,188 vehicles in China, up by 33.8% compared with the earlier year.
But Infinite still faces multiple challenges including relatively low sales records and margins. It’s believed that Kirchert resigned from Infiniti, partly influenced by a belief that this carmaker stands a very slim chance to reproduce the glory of other premium brands, such as BMW.
Dongfeng Infiniti’s PR hasn’t denied this information and said the company will make an announcement very soon.
