BYD Launching New Marketing Strategy Focusing on Promoting Alternative Energy Vehicles

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 14th)– BYD in China has brought Yuan, a small SUV model including traditional fuel vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles, since April 11. The price of traditional fuel vehicles is set at from RMB59, 900 yuan to RMB129, 900 yuan. The price of plug-in hybrid vehicles is set at from RMB209, 800 yuan to RMB249, 800 yuan. But customers can get national subsidies of RMB30, 000 yuan and some local governmental subsidizes when buying plug-in hybrid vehicles.

After Yuan brought to market, the Ancient China’s Dynasties alternative energy vehicles range including medium SUV model Qin, large SUV model Tang, medium SUV model Song, small SUV Yuan, has been taking shape. Full-size SUV model will be brought to market next year. Moreover, another three car models will be launched and car models will consist of small cars, medium cars, large cars and full-size cars. In this way, a total of eight models will be brought to market by BYD, making up the Ancient China’s Dynasties alternative energy vehicles range which targets at individual customers.

With the stimulus of government subsidizes, the revenue of BYD’s alternative energy vehicles reached RMB19.3 billion yuan, a yearly rise of 164% in 2015. Thanks to the rocketing growth alternative energy vehicles reaped, the revenue of BYD stood at RMB80.009 billion yuan, a yearly rise of 37.48% in 2015 after BYD suffered a loss in 2014. Data from BYD indicated that the sales of BYD’s alternative energy vehicles amounted to 61,700 units, surpassing that of Tesla and Nissan and ranking first globally in 2015. And BYD’s alternative energy vehicles took up market shares of more than 11% worldwide.

The revenue of alternative energy vehicles reached 24% while that of traditional fuel vehicles reached 27%. With BYD putting more investment on promoting alternative energy vehicles, it is expected that the revenue of alternative energy vehicles may surpass that of traditional fuel vehicles for the first time in 2016.
