Chana Ford sets a “small” target for its future five years

Gasgoo (Shanghai, September 9)—The year 2015 is the ending year for the “12th-five” period. The biggest domestic auto joint-venture brand Chana Ford, successfully sold 836,000 units in 2015, ranking among top 8 places.

Ford released its new five-year target in 2015. Different from the previous one, the new target will focus on Chana Ford, promote its independent R&D ability, and increase capacity of domestic vehicles, alternative energy vehicles, along with key parts and smart cars.

In the future five years, Ford will invest RMB 11.4b to increase its R&D abilities in China to launch 20 models in Chinese market by 2020, including new models and replacement models. Ford SUV models will cover more sub-markets.

Besides, according to plan, Ford will launch four new SUV models in the future four years across the world, which may be imported to China afterwards. Based on Chana Ford SUV’s good sales performance in recent years, the new cars may take Chana Ford as their domestic sales channel.

Chana announced that more than 1m units’ Ford vehicles in China will equip with Ford SYNC. Ford will also launch an upgrading scheme based on SYNC. Many new models launched this year all equip with SYNC3, including New Focus, New Edge and New Kuga.

Ford will put great efforts on alternative energy vehicles. By 2020, alternative energy vehicles will account for 10-25% of its brand total sales, in which Chana Ford will burden more sales responsibilities. All the Ford alternative energy vehicles will be imported to China in the future, in which Mondeo PHEV version will be launched this year.

Apart from the above changes, Ford will also focus on R&D of key parts, popularize 10AT gearbox, and increase capacity for small-displacement engines.
