Honda CR-V wins highest ranking in China's car crash test
Shanghai, January 9, (Gasgoo.com)--C-NCAP, China's official crash test organization, released the crash test results for the last batch of cars being tested in late 2007 yesterday. Among the six car models being tested, Honda CR-V earns a five-star-plus rating with 50.6 points, the highest rating ever awarded by C-NCAP.
The Honda CR-V in the crash test is produced by Honda's local joint venture Dongfeng Honda. In the full frontal impact test at 50km/h, CR-V scored 15.55 points, and it got 16 points in the 40% frontal offset crash test and side crash test respectively. Further, it was given a bonus 3-point (maximum 5) for the safety belt reminders, side airbag and air-cushion.
The company started local production of CR-Vs since 2004 and the updated model was launched last April. The hot-selling sport utility vehicle was named as "2008 SUV of the Year China" by a Chinese auto magazine called Motor Trend.

Notes: Brilliance, CHANA and Hafei are home-grown brands and Brilliance Junjie is also coded as BS4 in European market. The Liana tested is made by Changhe Suzuki and Lancer is made by Southeast Mitsubishi.
C-NCAP tests are conducted by China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATRC), which awards stars to each manufacturer depending on safety performance in the same testing procedure as the European NCAP.
