Shanghai. February 21 (Gasgoo.com) – China imported a total of 30,000 vehicles in the first month of 2008, up 51 percent from one year earlier, according to latest statistics released by General Administration of Customs.
China may import over 360,000 vehicles this year, an increase of 20 percent from last year, said general manager of China Trading Center for Automobile Import.
"Global automakers may introduce more brands and more models to Chinese market because they take China as a promising market,” said Ding Hongxiang, general manager of China Trading Center for Automobile Import at China Summit Forum for Imported Automobiles.
The import of SUV vehicles will grow at a faster pace than that of sedan vehicles, Ding said. “More SUV models will be introduced to Chinese market in 2008.”
Last year, China imported 314,200 vehicles, up 37.80 percent from one year earlier, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
