New Nissan Teana to go on sale in mid-June

Shanghai, May 8 (Gasgoo.com) Sources from Dongfeng Nissan, a joint venture by China Dongfeng Motor Company and Nissan, said that its Xiangfan plant has stopped producing the old Teana but turned to the new Teana.

The old Teana was the first Teana model by Nissan. Introduced by Dongfeng Nissan in 2005, Teana went on sale in September of the same year. Yang Song, marketing director of Dongfeng Nissan, said that production of old Teana has all stopped. Nationwide dealerships of Dongfeng Nissan are expected to sell out the rest Teana vehicles -- now less than 4000 units – with one month.

The all-new Teana lineup, designed according to Chinese standards and China consumer needs, comprises the Teana and Teana XV models. New Teana is equipped with CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and the fourth-generation VQ engine available in 2.0L, 2.5L or 3.5 L emissions. Powering the Teana XV is either 2.5 or 3.5 liter engine. On April 20, the all-new Teana was unveiled by Carlos Ghosn, president of Nissan-Renault, for its global premiere at the Beijing auto show. Top executives of Dongfeng Nissan hope this model could make the top three among mid-luxury sedans, namely selling 7,000-8,000 units per month. The Xiangfan plant of Dongfeng Nissan, covering 450,000 square kilometers and boasting an annual capacity of100,000 units, has undertaken this task.

New Teana is expected to go on sale on June 16, a day marking Dongfeng Nissan's fifth anniversary. Maintaining the same price as old Teana basically, all-new Teana sees Yaris and top Camry as its rivals. Significant changes can be seen in new Teana from the previous one. The all-new Teana is equipped with six-speed manual CVT and its chassis is elevated by 40mm.
