Chrysler strives to tap China and Russia markets

From China Knowledge| June 13 , 2008 13:43 BJT

Chrysler LLC, the third largest car maker in the U.S., is striving to tap into the potential overseas markets, such as China and Russia, according to Robert Nardelli, CEO of Chrysler.

He also noted Chrysler has been finalizing a deal to enter the Latin American market and it is in talks on expanding into India as well.

The company has to face the globalization problem resulting from its lack of large-scale international business, which made it hard for the company to offset its loss from the weak sales performance in the U.S. market, said Nardelli.

Early reports said Chrysler has no plan to withdraw from its Chinese joint venture with Daimler AG and Beijing Automotive Industry Co, Beijing Benz Daimler Chrysler Automotive Co Ltd (BBDC), as it aims to speed up its expansion in the country's sizzling auto market and to catch up with rivals.
