Didi teams up with 12 automakers to set up ride-sharing service system

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Wednesday, Didi Chuxing, a Chinese ride-sharing giant, announced that it has developed strategic partnership with 12 automakers to establish a service system for ride-sharing new energy vehicles.

The 12 automakers are BAIC BJEV, BYD, Changan Auto, Dongfeng Motor, Dongfeng Yueda Kia, Hawtai Motor, JAC, Geely, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, Chery, FAW and Zotye Auto.

The ride-sharing platforms invested by those automakers can be integrated into Didi’s ride-sharing platform and the automakers can provide vehicles, finance and insurance service for the platform and partners.

Based on the intelligent analysis on mobility data, the platform can gain a better understanding of customers’ habits and then improve the efficiency. Didi aims to achieve resources synergy with other ride-sharing companies in vehicle, capital, parking lots, charging piles and maintenance.

Via the strategy in ride-sharing platform, Didi plans to carry out operations with partners in the industry chain, covering automakers, ride-sharing platforms, infrastructure service providers, aftermarket service providers.

It is estimated that the ride-sharing market will see a booming development in the coming years. The mobility means will undergo changes and a large-scale ride-sharing vehicle market may be formed first in China, according to Didi.

Currently, Didi Chuxing provides service for 450 million customers across 400 cities. Its daily orders exceeds 25 million while 60 percent global ride-sharing orders are from Didi Chuxing.
