Faraday Future completes first pre-production FF91
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- EV startup Faraday Future (FF) announced that its first pre-production FF91 has rolled off the production line in Hanford, California, around a month after FF91’s first body in white was revealed.
This is a crucial step for Faraday Future (FF) towards its long-expected vehicle volume production. FF revealed that it will host a ceremony in Hanford plant next month, which is expected to be the celebration for the beginning of FF 91’s mass production. Besides, the automaker will officially deliver cars to customers in 2019.
In January 2017, FF unveiled the FF 91 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, catching the eye of visitors by virtue of its superior parameters. The company announced one year later that it had received reservations via website exceeding 64,000 FF 91 cars. After that, FF and its major shareholder Jia Yueting were trapped in the storied capital plight, with the plant construction and delivery plan being delayed until Evergrande Group injected capital in FF.
Evergrande Health Industry Group Limited (Evergrande Health) announced on June 25 that the company has acquired 100% stake in the Hongkong-based Season Smart Limited (hereinafter referred to as Season Smart) with an investment of HK$6.746 billion. At the same time, the subsidiary of Evergrande Group has indirectly obtained 45% stake in Smart King Ltd, a joint venture (JV) between Season Smart and the EV startup Faraday Future, which signified that the real estate giant has formally become one of FF's investors.
On August 14, Evergrande Health claimed that FF has set up its operating headquarters in China on the same day.
According to the announcement, FF plans to build five R&D and production bases in China over the next decade. Besides, the NEV maker aims to achieve a planned annual capacity of 5 million vehicles after 10 years and will roll out diverse models, such as the FF91 and the FF81, covering premium to entry-level segments for the global auto market, to build an internet-based intelligent mobility ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Evergrande Health said the first FF91 body-in-white has arrived FF's assembly facility in Hanford, California, where the complete vehicle assembly has officially started. Besides, the company is simultaneously conducting various tests, including the engineering test, to ensure the completion of its first batch of FF91 volume vehicles by first quarter next year.
