BAIC Group launches all-new self-owned PV brand BEIJING

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China's BAIC Group announced on October 15 its self-owned PV brand “BEIJING”, which integrates businesses of the NEV arm BJEV and BAIC Motor's domestic brands.  

Driven by electrification and intelligent connectivity strategies, “BEIJING” will serve as the group's core platform for self-owned PVs, developing a product lineup that covers multiple types of traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles and new energy vehicles.

At the launching ceremony, the automaker also showed off the new-born brand's first BEV model “EU7” and first concept “Illuminate”, which are created on the basis of BAIC Motor's and BJEV's technical strength in fuel-burning vehicles and NEVs.

Positioned as a mid-sized BEV model, the BEIJING EU7 is set to target markets of all-electric government cars and commercial-use vehicles. The new car model has been available for sales from September 19 with its three trim levels priced between RMB159,900 and 175,900 after subsidy.

The Illuminate Concept was been first seen to the public. It embodies BEIJING's brand-new SUV design language, while the eye-catching front face sets a typical styling to the newly-launched brand.

Prior to the launch of BEIJING brand, BAIC Group has already integrated the marketing systems of BJEV and BAIC Motor. A business commission that comprises two units' existing marketing groups was established about two months ago.

The birth of BEIJING brand makes BAIC Group complete the forming of three core business units, namely, the joint venture arm including Beijing Benz and Beijing Hyundai, the indigenous PV sector embracing ARCFOX and BEIJING as well as the commercial vehicle brand Foton (photo source: BAIC Group).
