BAIC Group hits 2019 revenue target of RMB500 billion
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BAIC Group announced, on the second day of this year, its 2019 revenue reached over 500 billion yuan ($71.7 billion), versus roughly 480 billion yuan ($68.8 billion) in 2018. Xu Heyi, chairman of the China’s state-owned automaker, said its sales and production totaled 2.26 million respectively and the exported vehicles exceeded 77,000 units in the whole year of 2019.
To be specific, the annual sales of Beijing Benz amounted to more than 550,000 vehicles, which showed a double-digit growth year on year and set a new production record for Daimler's global factories. 114,000 new energy vehicles were sold from January to November last year, with sales of medium and high-end products comprising up to 90%. The all-electric EU5 gained the championship in terms of sales in the segment. BAIC sold 36,000 off-road vehicles and BAIC Foton saw sales of 594,500 units in 2019. In addition, 6,000 taxis supporting battery swapping were sold and the group built 90 charging &battery swapping stations in Beijing.
Last year, the group launched ARCFOX, a premium BEV brand of BAIC BJEV in April and its PV brand BEIJING in October. The first pre-production car under ARCFOX officially rolled off the production line on December 30 at the Zhenjiang plant co-built by BAIC and Magna. The new-generation NEV model can deliver a range of over 600km and it can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h within five seconds.
