Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC NE, the NEV arm of GAC Group, said on July 30 via its WeChat account that it has become China’s first automaker that simultaneously agreed cooperation with two state-owned electric utility monopolies—State Grid and China Southern Power Grid (CSG)—on plug-and-play charging service and preferential policy of charging services.

The collaboration will make GAC NE offer the plug-and-play charging and non-inductive payment services to users in China’s key cities. To be specific, the services will allow a NEV to be charged without any human intervention. The whole charging process includes the activation and termination of the service, the order generation and the payment can be conducted automatically, so that the connectivity and efficient interaction among vehicles, charging stations, power grids and energy will be achieved.

State Grid launched in October 2019 an innovative charging service package that enables users to enjoy charging service at a rather low unit price within a specified period or electricity capacity after they pay a one-off expense.

Based on the State Grid's business model, GAC NE will provide different types of charging service plans for their car owners in 22 provinces, centrally-administered municipalities and autonomous regions across China.

By virtue of the cooperation, CSG will launch preferential activities particularly for GAC NE’s users at its self-operated charging stations in Shenzhen first, which lower the charging unit price to only 0.63 yuan/kwh in valley hours.

The NEV manufacturer is also developing its own charging service system. Currently, it has deployed superchargers in such cities as Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Foshan, Wenzhou and Haikou.
