Tesla forecasted to sell in China 100,000 vehicles in 2020

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- U.S.-based EV manufacturer Tesla sold in July 11,041 Model 3s locally produced at Gigafactory Shanghai, which were still honored the best-selling BEV model in China, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), another authoritative Chinese automobile industry association, has noted that Tesla sales for 2020 are estimated at about 100,000 vehicles.

In China, the automaker has fully started the delivery of the China-made long-rang RWD Model 3, which serves as an important sales contributor as same as the Standard Range Plus version.

As two of Model 3's core technologies, the OTA software update and the Autopilot are of crucial significance to future achievement of autonomous driving. These are another contributing factors to Tesla's remarkable sales in China.

The blooming sales should also partially owe to the faster localized R&D. To offer Chinese consumers better driving experience, the automaker has introduced some popular China-developed Apps like Bilibili and Baidu Maps, and is setting up a local autonomous driving fleet. Besides, Tesla decided to move the data and certification service of China users from the U.S. to China. Moving the server to China from the U.S. would help Tesla better serve their Chinese users with faster service respond and greater reliability by coping with such problems as the unstable connection in Tesla App.

The outstanding sales should also be partly attributable to Tesla's faster move on building service network in the country. The EV maker revealed that its V3 superchargers have been deployed in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and it aims to newly build over 4,000 superchargers this year countrywide.
