Great Wall Motor (GWM) said its annual sales in 2020 climbed 4.84% from a year ago to 1,111,598 units, surpassing its 1.02 million-unit sales target.

Great Wall Motor’s digital executive officer to lead standalone premium smart EV project

Li Peng, the digital executive officer of Great Wall Motor (GWM), will be fully responsible for the company’s standalone premium intelligent EV brand internally coded “SL project”, the executive said on Dec. 30.

His capacity as the head of GWM's digital center will be succeeded by Chen Xianling, Director of GWM Safety Performance Development Department, according to Li Peng.

Great Wall Motor unveils ‘L.E.M.O.N. hybrid DHT’ fully developed in-house

On December 15, Great Wall Motor (GWM) launched the “L.E.M.O.N. hybrid DHT”, a highly-integrated multi-mode hybrid solution with high working efficiency, which is available for full range of speeds and multiple travelling scenarios.

With a total of 199 patents, the new hybrid system is solely designed and developed by GWM. In the future, the company will launch hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in electric vehicles (PHEVs) based on the “L.E.M.O.N. hybrid DHT”.

Great Wall Motor ORA puts Haomao all-electric car onto market

ORA Haomao (meaning “Good Cat”), the fourth mass-produced model under Great Wall Motor (GWM)’s electric vehicle (EV) brand ORA, hit the market on November 24. At the same time, the first Haomao car rolled off the assembly line at GWM's Taizhou manufacturing plant.

Coming with five trim levels, the Haomao is sold at guiding prices ranging from 103,900 yuan ($15,760) to 143,900 yuan ($21,830).

Great Wall Motor launches new-generation self-developed powertrain solution

Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motor (GWM) launched its self-developed new-generation powertrain solution on Nov. 19, a major headway made in independent technology development.

The newly-launched solution includes the GW4N20 engine, the 9DCT/9HDCT and the “three-in-one” electric drive system, covering fuel-burning, hybrid and all-electric fields. They will offer strong technical support for GWM to develop more new models.

Great Wall Motor to build vehicle manufacturing base in Jingmen, Hubei province

Great Wall Motor (GWM) held on October 19 the signing ceremony for the complete vehicle production base in Jingmen, Hubei Province, signifying a further expansion of GWM's global manufacturing network.

Under the agreement, Jingmen municipal government consents to transfer the equity of Jingmen production base to Great Wall Holdings, while the latter will produce there SUVs and pickups after modifying the SUV-only assembly line into a flexible production line that supports both SUV and pickup models. Meanwhile, the company will invest in four component supporting projects for automobile seat, exterior & interior, chassis and rubber articles.

Great Wall Motor’s WEY to unveil new off-road SUV dubbed “Tank 300” at Chengdu Motor Show

Great Wall Motor (GWM) is going to offer the first glimpse of an all-new off-road SUV dubbed “Tank 300” at the Chengdu Motor Show 2020 that kicked off on July 24. This is the first model built on the “Tank·WEY” platform the automaker launched earlier this week.

According to the teaser photos released via WEY's WeChat account, the Tank 300 elicits a closer look to that of the Haval Big Dog with such elements as circular headlights and masculine character lines still adopted.

Great Wall Motor’s all-new tech brands named Lemon, Tank, Coffee

Great Wall Motor (GWM) launched on July 20 three all-new technology brands, dubbed “Lemon”, “Tank” and “Coffee Intelligence”, demonstrating its ambition to drive the transition to being a global mobility technology and service provider from being a mere vehicle manufacturer.

The automaker announced on spot the launch of two automobile platforms, namely, the “Lemon” and the “Tank”. Involving over 20 billion yuan ($2,863,934,000) of R&D investment and integrating GWM's global resources, the two platforms are designed to produce the models that target global markets.

Great Wall Motor, Spotlight ink framework agreement for R&D, product development services

Great Wall Motor (GWM) and Spotlight Automotive Limited (Spotlight) signed on June 12 a framework agreement for the transactions of product development, plant construction and management, manufacturing technique development, product procurement and consultation service, GWM announced.

From 2020 to 2023, GWM and its majority-owned subsidiaries (collectively called “the Group” for short) will procure from Spotlight the R&D services worth 1.734 billion yuan ($244,521,520), according to GWM’s announcement. Besides, the Group will also provide Spotlight with 2.651 billion yuan ($373,833,070) worth of R&D services during the same period.

Great Wall Motor, Neusoft form cooperation on in-vehicle central computing platform

At this year's CES, Chinese largest SUV and pickup manufacturer Great Wall Motor (GWM) announced a cemented cooperation with Neusoft, a Chinese leading IT-enabled solutions and services provider, to jointly develop a future-oriented in-car central computing platform based on the latter's self-built VCP (vehicle computing platform).

Adopting the idea of domain control, the platform will integrate the computing power and decision-making capability of ECUs (electronic control units), infotainment system, instrumental panel and body control system into a central computing unit, so as to balance the computing power among cloud, edge and devices. It is equivalent to adding to the auto system another CPUs which are able to swiftly take over the safety functions when the working CPU is in malfunction.
