Former president of BAIC’s auto part platform BHAP joins Baoneng Motor as VP

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Baoneng Motor has named Chen Bao, former president of Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. (BHAP), as its vice president that takes charge of auto parts business, the company announced on Feb. 25.

Baoneng Motor, the automotive unit of the property conglomerate Baoneng Group, set up in last November a wholly-owned auto parts subsidiary in Shenzhen. The company, named Baoneng Motor Auto Parts Co.,Ltd., involves a registered capital of 5 billion yuan ($774.606 million), according to the corporate data platform Tianyancha. It has a line of licensed businesses including the development, production and sale of auto parts, stamping parts, forging parts, modules and other equipment. Apart from domestic trade, it is also allowed to operate import and export business.

After receiving roles in Baoneng Motor, Mr. Chen will help the company build an auto-related full industry chain covering the R&D of complete vehicles and cutting-edge technologies, the manufacture of vehicles, the R&D and production of EV core parts, warehousing, transportation, mobility service, auto-related finance and after-sale services, an executive at Baoneng Motor said.

According to public information, Chen Bao joined Beijing Benz in 2009 as executive vice president that is accountable for the procurement and localization of auto parts. Under his leadership, most parts used in Mercedes-Benz’s China facility have been sourced locally.

In 2013, Chen Bao was appointed as executive vice president of procurement at BAIC Motor, leading the supplier systems of BAIC Motor’s self-owned brands, as well as the businesses of cost control and new product development. In 2016, he was promoted to the president of BHAP, an auto parts platform of BAIC Group.
